Hello Craig I wanted to tell you I love your book. I have been writing for years and been a huge comic fan all my life. Your book has inspired me to finally take the step and write my own book. Being in the industry now as you are do you have any advice on how I could find an artist to collaborate with? Any information or direction you could point me in would be great. Thank you .
So sorry its taken so long to reply to this . I actually completely missed it! Thanks so much for the kind words. The first step is always the hardest - finding the right person to collaborate with. I'm lucky - I only have to work with myself :) In finding an artist I would recommend trying to find out if the city you live in has a regular creators meet (for example Melbourne has a monthly creator meet where anywhere up to 50 indie creators meet up in a pub to chat and form collaborations). Another option would be to check out some of the facebook groups. There's one called Connecting Comic Book Writers and Artists ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/Connecting.Comic.Book.Writers.and.Artists/ ) which has about 17,000 members so that's also a good place to start. It can be very daunting though as there are always more writers looking for artists than vice versa (mainly because all us artists think we can write :) ) Put together a solid pitch for what sort of story / book you want to collaborate on and work out up front what sort of partnership you want to enter into. I think once you have those things sorted the process should start to get easier. Hope some of this helps :)
